Dams

Substructure has provided restoration, rehabilitation, and survey services to the dam industry since the company was founded, in 1996.

A member of the Association for State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO), Substructure is experienced applying coatings, epoxies, and other materials compliant with the National Sanitary Foundation (NSF) Standard 61. In addition, we rehabilitate dams with our custom-designed and patented plural-component epoxy pump. Learn more about Substructure’s marine rehabilitation services. Substructure’s reliable, safety-oriented commercial divers strictly adhere to AWWA clear water standards and are experienced working with differential pressure situations commonly found working in dams. Our extensive, state-of-the-art, in-house diving equipment includes complete contaminated-water and clear-water diving systems.

Dam owners employ Substructure to conduct hydrographic surveys to obtain detailed and precise georeferenced data – such as to accurately measure the capacities of their facilities. The sub-bottom profiling technologies of Orion are useful for mapping sedimentation of impoundment areas behind dams, showing where capacity has been lost. Hydrographic surveys can be used for condition evaluations for exacting debris assessment. Structural surveys provide images of vertical surfaces, such as the dam face. This information that can guide dam owners during inspection, remediation, and construction projects.
