Substructure Supplies Epoxy Pumping System

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (October 10, 2006) - Substructure, Inc. contracted with Walker Diving Underwater Construction Corp. to provide its innovative epoxy pumping system for a project on the Washington Street Bridge in Providence, Rhode Island.  The project involved the installation of numerous large diameter fiber-reinforced polymer jackets, followed by the injection of a two-part epoxy grout mixture into the jackets.

Due to the technical difficulties experienced with other epoxy pumping systems, Substructure, Inc. decided several years ago that far better results could be attained by developing a pump that was specifically designed to pump plural-component epoxy products.  There is currently a patent pending on both the pump and an innovative static mixer design.  More information about both the epoxy pumping process and Substructure's unique equipment can be found elsewhere on this website.

The Model 20 epoxy pumping system was delivered to Walker Diving Underwater Construction Corp. and operated by one of Substructure's certified operators.  The equipment performed flawlessly, and all jackets were successfully filled by October 4, 2006.

Substructure, Inc. was pleased to provide its equipment, personnel, and expertise to Walker Diving Underwater Construction Corp. and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
