Substructure Completes Sacrificial Anode Installation for the U.S. Navy

PORTSMOUTH, NH (August 24, 2006) - Substructure, Inc. has just completed a large-scale project for the United States Navy at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.  The project involved the installation of nearly 200 sacrificial anodes to marine pilings along Berths 11, 12, and 13.  The anodes, which were of two sizes, weighed either 240 pounds or 360 pounds.  These cast aluminum anodes were welded to the marine pilings to AWS D3.6M Class C standards.  The installations were followed by a thorough inspection by a third-party certified welding inspector.  The project was performed in conformity with the the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) commercial diving standards, as well as all additional U.S. Navy diving regulations.  The on-site crew consisted of seven certified commercial divers, two USCG-licensed captains, and additional surface support personnel.

The project was completed well in advance of the August 31, 2006 deadline.  In the planning stages of this project, down time was anticipated for various Navy operations and for inclement weather.  Nevertheless, due to the excellent cooperation with various departments at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and far fewer weather days than were originally expected, the project progessed at an accelerated rate.

However, Substructure, Inc. president Tom Reis adds that the greatest single factor in the successful completion of this project was Substructure's crew.  "Our personnel on this project performed each and every task effectively, safely, and professionally.  It was a genuine pleasure to work with such an exceptional group of individuals." said Reis.

Substructure, Inc. would like to thank all of those involved in bringing this project to a successful conclusion.  We are pleased to be able to assist the United States Navy and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in their continuing mission.
