Substructure Completes Project in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba (November 15, 2006) - Substructure has completed a project for the United States Navy at the U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The project was part of a broader rehabilitation of Charlie pier at the base, with Substructure responsible for all of the pile driving. Substructure's crew extracted over 50 marine pilings and drove nearly 90 new pilings.
Due to some unique jobsite conditions, a significant amount of on-site design and fabrication had to be accomplished prior to the actual commencement of production work. And, predictably, the weather conditions throughout the project were extremely hot and humid. Despite these factors, the project was completed on time and under budget.
This project, a collaborative effort with Oceaneering International, Inc., marked the fifth such project that Substructure and Oceaneering have successfully completed together.
All of Substructure's crew returned to New Hampshire this week and are enjoying a few days of well-earned R & R. Substructure would like to thank each and every member of its crew for their hard work and professionalism throughout the project.
