Custom Design & Fabrication
Aluminum barges coupled together provide an excellent work platform for construction. (Nashua, New Hampshire)
One factor that sets Substructure apart from other companies is our design and fabrication capability. Our full-time engineers and fabricators are constantly building custom equipment for use in the field.
This provides both a substantial benefit to clients with unique requirements and permits our field crews to consistently work more effectively and efficiently. All of this translates to a superior finished product delivered to our clients, and a better bottom line.
Some of our recent endeavors have included custom design and fabrication of marine fenders, aluminum construction barges, and a plural component epoxy pump for which a patent is currently pending.
Custom Designed & Fabricated Marine Fenders
Our marine fenders are engineered within specific parameters, including the energy absorption required by the vessels at the facility, the length and weight of the vessels at the facility, the fact that vessel alignment will change as it is unloaded and as the tide changes, the reparability of components in the event of damage, and corrosion resistance.
Custom Aluminum Construction Barges
Substructure's aluminum construction barges can be coupled in a wide variety of configurations, allowing for an effective work platform in virtually any field situation. Additionally, each barge is compartmentalized so that a breach in the hull will not compromise the barge’s buoyancy and they are sized specifically to fit inside a shipping container so that they can be transported to remote work locations around the world.
All tripping hazards are removed by utilizing flush hatches and recessed cleats, and a no-slip surface prevents accidental falls. The design also allows for enhanced stability under various loading conditions.
Custom Designed & Fabricated Epoxy Pump
Our latest plural component epoxy pump includes a dual-cylinder assembly capable of pumping two separate mixtures that each have a high aggregate content but which differ in their respective viscosities. The innovative design addresses all of the problems that are common with other types of pumps currently on the market.
The auger assembly combined with the hopper configuration ensures proper mixing with minimal settling and aeration, the minimization of hopper residue, and the continuous stable action of the auger blades.
The hoppers are thermally regulated, the upper hopper assembly is of an ergonomic height, and all moving parts, including the augers, are covered so that the risk of injury is dramatically reduced.
The pumps are constructed to be far more wear-resistant than conventional pumps, and are designed and assembled so that field repairs can be accomplished quickly and easily. Repairs consist primarily of replacing modules containing those parts most subject to wear.
